Abstract

|
We report a case of human conjunctival infestation of Thelazia callipaeda. A forty-eight-year old woman was admitted complaining of foreign body sensation in the left eye. The symptom was unresponsive to conventional treatments for dry eye syndrome and allergic conjunctivitis. Visual acuity was 0.9, and slit lamp examination revealed conjunctival hyperemia, follicular hypertrophy, and slender white worms in the conjunctival sac. Total 3 worms were removed from the left upper conjunctival sac. The worms were parasitologically identified as two female and one male worms of Thelazia callipaeda. Six months later, the worm was not found, and the symptom improved completely.
